Most of our products are stable at 4 degrees/-20 for at least a year, but please refer to the datasheet for each product to be sure. Every protein is unique. To prevent degradation, samples should be aliquoted to prevent repeated freeze/thaw cycles

Please refer to the datasheet linked to the specific product as each protein is unique and has it’s own storage conditions. For fluorescent antibodies, please remember to keep in an opaque box or wrapped in foil.

A full-length antibody is around 150 kDa and is composed of two light chains and two heavy chains linked by disulphide bonds. Most current antibodies on the market are in this format. An scFv is a smaller, 25 kDa, molecule composed of a fusion protein of the variable regions of the heavy (VH) and light chains (VL) of immunoglobulins, connected with a short linker peptide of ten to about 25 amino acids. A nanobody is an even smaller antibody composed of a single monomeric variable antibody domain and is roughly 12-15 kDa. These smaller antibody fragments are useful for applications such as microscopy where greater tissue penetration is required or closer proximity to the target protein needed.

Our PtX-1Shot range comprises antibodies that are already conjugated to a reporter molecule, such as HRP, at the genetic level. This allows a one step detection in Western Blot of ELISA, instead of using a secondary antibody. Refer to the datasheet on any of our 1-shot range of antibodies to see for yourself that signal intensity is still maintained.

If it is a product that is on our catalogue we are able to deliver in 1-2 weeks. Our custom service is dependent on the method of purification and whether testing is included in production.

We ensure that each protein is tested in the application it is recommended for, with all the necessary controls to confirm functionality. We also compare all our products to commercial counterparts. In addition, we do mass spec analysis on all our products to ensure they are what we say they are and to determine the % purity. Antibodies and enzymes are also tested on a Biacore Machine to check the binding affinity and to determine the dissociation constant. In future we plan to include knock down validation testing on all our antibodies.

For every product on our catalogue we have produced three separate batches that are each independently tested and compared to each other to ensure reproducibility.

All our sequences for our recombinant antibodies and proteins are acquired from publically available databases, outdated patents or from collaborations with researchers.

Some do, some don’t. If you require one with/without please just ask and we can make a plan. Refer to the datasheet to check.

Usually we sell from our catalogue in 100 ug amounts but we are very flexible if you would like to order a larger or smaller quantity. Please just ask our distributors.

Due to the high volume of cellulose and the tough cell walls of plants, this does require some finesse but with 20 years of experience inherited from the lab we spun out of, we have our ways and means :P

Plants are able to produce complex and large proteins that makes them superior to systems such as E.coli and yeast. They are able to produce whole immunoglobulins, in all their disulphide bonded glory from separate infiltrations of the heavy and light chain genes! In this regard they are comparable with mammalian expression systems. However, the glycosylation patterning between plants and mammals is different and does need to be factored in when producing therapeutics in the plant-based system. On the flip side, there is no transfer of pathogens between the plants and humans and this is a positive in comparison to the risk of contaminating pathogens found in therapeutics produced in the mammalian expression system.

Most of the other companies are focused on vaccine and therapeutic production. Some of the big players are Medicago, Kentucky Bio, Leaf Expression Systems and Plantform to name a few.
